    Top Freight Exchanges in Europe: 2026 Guide

    If you drive your own truck - or you are planning to - one of the most important business decisions you will make is not what to haul or where to drive, it is where to find the loads. An empty truck only generates costs. A truck with the right load board behind it generates revenue.

    This guide covers the main freight exchanges, load boards, and apps that long-haul truckers and owner-operators use across Europe in 2026, from Lisbon to Helsinki and from Dublin to Kyiv.


    What a Load Board Actually Is

    A load board (also called a freight exchange) is a marketplace where shippers and freight forwarders post loads that need moving, and carriers (you) browse, bid, or accept those loads. Most charge a monthly subscription, usually between 150 and 300 euros per month, verify both sides of the marketplace, and offer some form of payment guarantee.

    The good ones save you days of calling looking for work. The bad ones waste your subscription fee and show you fake or duplicated listings posted by brokers who sit between you and the actual shipper.


    The Big Pan-European Platforms

    TimoCom

    Strongest in: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and any route that connects to these countries.

    One of the largest road-freight marketplaces in Europe, with more than 55,000 customer companies, around 156,000 users, and up to one million freight and vehicle offers published per day across 46 countries. TimoCom operates both an open exchange (accessible to all verified platform users) and a closed exchange (restricted to private, trusted partner networks), verifying its members on both sides. It is the default choice if your routes cross into Germany. Pricing is quote-based and depends on company size, number of users, contract length, and selected modules - request a quote from TimoCom directly rather than relying on third-party figures.

    Trans.eu

    Strongest in: Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, the Baltics, Romania, Hungary, and increasingly the rest of Eastern Europe.

    If TimoCom dominates German-language freight, Trans.eu dominates Polish freight - and Poland is the largest road freight market in the European Union, which makes Trans.eu essential for anyone running routes east of Vienna. The platform reports around 40,000 verified companies and roughly 120,000 active daily users, with tens of millions of freight offers per year (weekly peaks above 3.7 million offers were reported in 2026). Public pricing has recently shown entry-level plans starting at around 129 euros per month, subject to country and package.

    Teleroute

    Strongest in: France, Benelux, and pan-European general freight.

    A long-established player and part of the Alpega Group, alongside Wtransnet and 123cargo - a Teleroute subscription also gives you access to offers from those sister platforms, which is a real advantage when comparing subscriptions. Teleroute reports around 85,000 transport professionals, more than 350,000 freight offers per day, and a payment guarantee covering its 29 countries of operation. Solid for return-load matching and reducing empty kilometres on international routes.

    Country-Specific Platforms That Matter

    The big pan-European exchanges cover most of the continent, but in several markets the local platforms are where the freight actually flows. If your routes touch any of these regions, the local platform should be on your shortlist.

    France - B2PWeb

    B2PWeb is the dominant domestic French freight exchange. Founded by a coalition of around 300 French transport professionals, it is closed to verified transport businesses only and reports around 12,000 client companies, 25,000 daily users, 325,000 connected trucks, and roughly one million freight offers per month. Independent industry commentary describes it as used by a large majority of French carriers. If you are based in France or run regular freight into France, this should be your first subscription, with Teleroute as a strong complement for international work.

    Important note on payment protection: B2PWeb does not offer a payment guarantee - it provides a mediation service for disputes (with a high reported satisfaction rate) but no direct financial protection against unpaid invoices. If invoice payment protection is critical for your business, use Teleroute or Wtransnet instead, both of which include the Alpega payment guarantee.

    United Kingdom and Ireland - Haulage Exchange and Returnloads

    Haulage Exchange (part of Transport Exchange Group) is the largest UK-focused freight platform, with around 10,000 active members, 15,000 loads posted daily, and more than 2.27 million loads per year. The same group operates Courier Exchange for same-day work. Haulage Exchange should be the first choice for anyone based in the UK or Ireland. Returnloads.net (part of Mandata Group) is a strong complementary subscription, particularly for backhauls, with more than 150,000 new loads listed monthly and around 5,000 HGV loads per day. Note that the UK is no longer in the European Union, so cross-border work involves customs paperwork.

    Iberia - Wtransnet

    Headquartered in Terrassa (Barcelona) and part of the Alpega Group, Wtransnet is the southern European specialist. Its current marketing reports more than 11,000 certified companies across 33 countries, a QAP quality certification on its members, and an online payment guarantee in partnership with Coface (in the event of non-payment you can recover 90 percent of the invoice value). Strong supply on Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian routes.

    South-East Europe - Cargopedia

    With more than 153,000 registered members and around 25,000 active weekly members across more than ten language localisations, Cargopedia has wide reach across Romania, Bulgaria, the wider Balkans (including Greece and Serbia), and increasingly Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany, and France. It is a fully web-based platform optimised for mobile browsers rather than a dedicated mobile app. Complements Trans.eu well on intra-Balkan freight.

    Romania - 123cargo

    The most-used freight exchange in Romania, with around 16,000 active companies. Part of the Alpega Group, so a Teleroute or Wtransnet subscription gives you access to 123cargo offers as well.

    Baltics - Cargo.LT and Cargo.PL

    The Cargo.LT family covers Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and surrounding markets, reporting 7,000 to 8,000 load offers per day, 10,000 to 12,000 transport offers per day, and around 15,000 transport companies. The sister platform Cargo.PL reports around 25,000 daily load offers, 15,000 transport offers, and more than 100,000 freight forwarders and transport companies in its database. If you operate in the Baltics, this regional family belongs on your shortlist alongside Trans.eu.

    Italy - Golia Exchange and emerging options

    The most significant Italian launch of 2026 is Golia Exchange, a partnership between the Italian fleet-management provider Golia360 (Infogestweb), the payment specialist 360PAY, and Trans.eu Group. It debuted at LetExpo in March 2026 and the integration went live on 5 May 2026, onboarding nearly 2,000 verified Italian carriers into the Trans.eu freight network. Golia Exchange offers a "relational" private exchange for trusted domestic partners, with seamless routing to Trans.eu's 125,000+ users when no domestic match is found. For routes connecting Italy to Germany, France, and Central Europe, this is now a primary tool. Beyond that, Truckscanner.it is a newer, free-access Italian marketplace launched by Digital Logistics S.r.l., useful as a no-cost secondary source while its carrier network grows. TimoCom, Teleroute, and Wtransnet also have active Italian carrier bases.

    Nordics - direct relationships still matter

    There is no major Nordic-only general freight exchange of comparable scale to TimoCom or Trans.eu. The Nordic market continues to run heavily on direct shipper relationships and on integrated forwarders such as DSV-Schenker, NTG, ColliCare, and Nordicon. Owner-operators running Nordic routes typically rely on TimoCom and Trans.eu for cross-border work and on direct contracts for domestic freight.

    Ukraine and eastern non-EU markets - Lardi-Trans and Della

    Lardi-Trans is the dominant freight exchange in Ukraine, with more than 40,000 carriers on the platform and offices across 14 countries. Della operates parallel sites for Ukraine and Moldova and is the next-largest in the same language ecosystem. Important compliance note: the European Union prohibits Russian and Belarusian road transport operators, trailers, and semi-trailers from transporting goods into the EU, including in transit. Any work in this region must be matched to verified, sanctions-compliant counterparties.

    Other Platforms Worth Knowing

    Sennder and other digital freight forwarders

    Sennder is Europe's largest digital freight forwarder, built up through the acquisitions of Uber Freight Europe, Everoad, Cars&Cargo, and C.H. Robinson's European Surface Transportation business. It reports more than 50,000 loads per month, access to over 120,000 vehicles, and around 1,000 staff. It is not a subscription load board - carriers register for free and bid on shipper-side loads. Similar closed shipper-side marketplaces include Saloodo! (DHL's digital road-freight marketplace, active in Germany, the UK, Italy, Poland, and parts of the Middle East and Africa) and Drive4Schenker (now part of the combined DSV-Schenker group following the 2025 merger). These are not classic spot exchanges, but they are increasingly where enterprise spot freight is routed.

    Loads Today (LKW Walter)

    LKW Walter is Europe's largest transport organisation for full truckloads, processing more than 5,500 FTL orders per day. Its Loads Today carrier portal is completely free of charge - no subscription, no commission - and gives verified carriers instant access to a wide European selection of fixed-price loads. A dedicated driver app handles paperless CMR uploads, trailer condition checks, and payment options (FlexPay). For FTL-focused owner-operators, this is the most useful free alternative to a paid subscription.

    FreightBridge

    A newer European freight-exchange platform covering more than 30 countries, positioned as a low-cost alternative with a free initial period. Network size is smaller than the established platforms, so it is best used as a secondary source rather than a primary subscription.

    Apps for Drivers on the Road

    Most of the big freight exchanges have their own mobile apps now. TimoCom, Trans.eu, Teleroute, Wtransnet, and Haulage Exchange (via the HX Fleet App) all let you accept loads, communicate with shippers, and update job status from your phone while you are on the road. Cargopedia is a fully mobile-friendly web platform rather than a dedicated app, accessible from any smartphone or tablet browser. If you spend your week travelling, make sure the platform you pay for has usable mobile access.
